Alvor
Alvor is a seaside resort and fishing village in the Algarve, Portugal’s southernmost region. The 16th-century Igreja Matriz church rises above the old town, while 3 morabitos (Islamic shrines) evoke the area’s Moorish heritage. Cobbled lanes lead down to the paved riverfront, which is lined with bars and seafood restaurants. Spend a day on Alvor's main beach, or find one of the smaller, secluded coves along the coastline. Alvor is close to Portimao, Lagos, Carvoeiro, Ferragudo, Silves and many other Algarve towns and villages. It is also in close proximity to a number of golf courses and tennis clubs.
